Coastal Carolina Chanticleers Football Information
The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers football program competes at the Division I Football Bowl Subdivision level for Coastal Carolina University. The Sun Belt Conference, which the Chanticleers are a part of, has had teams competing at the FBS level since 2017. The Chanticleers' home field is Brooks Stadium in Conway, South Carolina, on James C. Benton Field. Tim Beck replaced Jamey Chadwell as head coach after Liberty hired him.
After starting the season ranked No. 22, CCU won their first six games and moved up to No. 15 before a defeat to Appalachian State. They went on a tear, winning four of their final five games, but ultimately came in second place in the East. CCU's first bowl game victory came in 2021 when they played at the Cure Bowl and beat Northern Illinois 47-41.
Counting the two outright and five shared titles, Coastal Carolina has won seven Big South Conference titles and one Sun Belt Conference title (shared with Louisiana in 2020). Coastal Carolina's absence from the 2020 Sun Belt Conference Football Championship Game was directly attributable to the epidemic.
