Wylder Information
Wylder is an American indie-folk quartet from the heart of Virginia, founded in November 2011. The current lineup of the band consists of Will (guitar and vocals), Lonnie (guitar, mandolin, back-up vocals), Jackson (bass, back-up vocals), and Mike (drums and back-up vocals). The members of the quartet share their influences as being The Last Bison, The Avett Brothers, Fleet Foxes, Arcade Fire, Regina Spektor, Weezer, and Death Cab for Cutie.
Wylder released a sophomore album entitled Golden Age Thinking on July 12, 2019. It is said to be an expansive and dynamic collection of haunting, rhythmic, and lyrically-driven indie-folk. The album examines the powerful influence of nostalgia as a major form of denial type. Wylder’s sophomore album was followed by another album entitled Rain and Laura. It is defined as a sprawling and eclectic record that can evoke alternative rock giants like Arcade Fire and Weezer. Not only this but also the intimate, harmony-laden sounds of Fleet Foxes and Sufjan Stevens can be experienced in this album. Rain and Laura also caught the attention of Train’s Pat Monahan.
The band reached an even larger audience when the track named “At the End pt. 1” was featured in 2019. It was featured during a key moment on the hit ABC series known as The Good Doctor.
