Wyclef Jean is a rapper, actor, and musician from Haiti. He was born on the 17th of October, 1969. Wyclef Jean moved to America at the age of nine with his family. He rose to fame as a member of a hip hop group called the Fugees. After ten years in the group, Wyclef Jean decided to start his career as a solo artist in 1997. His debut album was called “Wyclef Jean Presents the Carnival Featuring the Refugee All-Stars” in 1997. This album was a hit, and Wyclef Jean signed a deal with the recording company Heads Music.
Wyclef Jean won three Grammy Awards, two in 1997 and one in 2000. He was also nominated seven times for the Grammys as well. Wyclef Jean won one MTV Video Music Awards in 1998 for Best R&B Video for “Gone Till November.” On the 5th of August, 2010, Wyclef Jean entered for the 2010 Haitian Presidential election as a candidate. He was determined as ineligible to stand for the office by The Electoral Commission. Wyclef Jean did not meet the requirements of the constitution; that is, an individual has to be a resident of Haiti for five years to enter the election. Wyclef Jean announced that he would go on a tour called The Carnival Tour on the 25th of December, which started on January 19, 2018, and ended on the 2nd of May.
