WVU Symphony Orchestra Information
One of the premier music ensembles in the Morgantown area is the West Virginia University Symphony Orchestra. WVU Symphony Orchestra is a primary group of the WVU School of Music of the WVU College of Creative Arts, led by Mitchell Arnold, WVU's Director of Orchestral Activities.
The WVUSO performs at Carnegie Hall in Greenbrier County, West Virginia, every year and other venues across the state. WVUSO has performed as a featured ensemble at the College Orchestra Directors Association's national conference in Fort Worth, Plano, and Arlington, Texas, in 2014.
The Valerie and William Canady Creative Arts Center hosts the WVUSO. Its members are WVU's talented students; many are pursuing music and other degrees. Mitchell Arnold, the orchestra's conductor, is in his twelfth year and has guided the group to a national reputation for brilliance and thrilling performances.
WVUSO offers superb orchestral music that is both well-known and adored by its audience and music worth discovering. Our objective is to educate our community while also serving as an essential cultural institution.
