Yoann Lemoine (March 16, 1983) is professionally known as Woodkid. From Tassin-la-Demi-Lune, France, Woodkid is a graphic designer, video director, and singer-songwriter. His music is defined as pop, chamber pop, art pop, and neofolk. Lemoine studied illustration and animation at the Émile Cohl School and graduated from there. Later on, he left for the UK to attend Swindon College for a silkscreen printing process course. In 2004, he relocated to Paris, and after an experience at H5, Lemoine joined Luc Besson's crew. He worked on Arthur and the Invisibles project for one year.
Lemoine directed a series of roughs for Sofia Coppola's Marie Antoinette in 2006. He has also received 5 Lions for his AIDS Awareness campaign Graffiti in June 2010, at the Cannes Lions Advertising Festival. He earned the award for Best Director of the Year at the MVPA Awards in 2012. Lemoine was also nominated for 6 MTV Video Music Awards.
As Woodkid, his first musical project is about the transition from childhood to adulthood. His songs can be defined as 'organic' and wooden. This project is about a kid, who initiates organic but later turns himself into marble. His notable discographies released as Woodkid are The Golden Age 2013, Iron EP, Run Boy Run (Remixes) EP, Ellis EP, and Woodkid for Nicolas Ghesquière – Louis Vuitton Works One EP.
