WE Fest Information
WE Fest is a three-day country music festival every year, on the first weekend of August. The event is organized at the Soo Pass Ranch in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, founded in 1983 by Jeff Krueger. Matt Mithun and Live Nation formerly owned of WE Fest. The first-ever festival held approximately 9,000 people in a barn. More recently, an established venue and festival grounds have been chosen, along with an on-site camping option.
In 1982, John Roley created the logo of WE Fest in Bloomington, Minnesota. The original names for the event were '83 Festival, then More in '84 and Alive in '85, and finally WE Fest. The first band that performed at the event was Alabama. Since then, many well-known acts and artists have performed, such as Kenny Chesney, Carrie Underwood, Eric Church, Jason Aldean, Big & Rich, Brooks & Dunn, Florida Georgia Line, Rascal Flatts, Martina McBride, Merle Haggard, Faith Hill, Toby Keith, Tim McGraw, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, and Charley Pride.
Some of the other notable artists who have repeatedly appeared on the WE Fest are Taylor Swift, Blake Shelton, Tanya Tucker, George Strait, Brett Eldredge, Tammy Wynette, Brad Paisley, and Trisha Yearwood. Attendance reached a record high in 2007 with 83,000 people. In 2016, the attendance grew above 150,000.
