Dan Chien (November 20) is an Australian DJ and artist born in Sydney. He goes by the stage name Wax Motif. Chien currently lives in Los Angeles, California. His influence on the G-House scene is well-documented. Wax Motif collaborated with Destructo for his Interscope album. They teamed with Ty Dolla Sign, YG, Young Thug, Problem, and Warren G. He mixes this approach extensively into his DJ performances.
When asked about his musical inspirations, Wax Motif listed R&B, disco, and UK bass in an interview with Thump. His first EP for Mad Decent, G-house-focused True Joy, reflects this eclectic approach.
Wax Motif has performed at Splendor in the Grass, EDC Las Vegas, EDC New York, and EDC Mexico, as well as Electric Zoo, HARD Summer, Day of the Dead, Holy Ship, and Stereosonic festivals.
Tracks and remixes by Motif have been published on labels, including A-Trak's Fool's Gold, Skrillex's Owsla, and Steve Aoki's Dim Mak. Remixes of songs by YG, Young Thug, Kid Ink, Chromeo, Deadmau5, and Warren G's "Regulate" are featured on an album released by the illustrious label Strictly Rhythm.
