Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra Information
The Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra is a Polish orchestra based in Warsaw. It was founded in 1901 and is one of Poland’s oldest musical institutions. It was conceived on the initiative of an assembly of Polish financiers and aristocrats as well as musicians. So many conductor-composers and virtuoso regularly performed their work with the orchestra. The list of the notable performers includes Igor Stravinsky, Richard Strauss, Camille Saint-Saens, Maurice Ravel, Sergei Prokofiev, Ruggiero Leoncavallo, Arthur Honegger, and Edvard Grieg.
Other musicians who have played with The Warsaw National Philharmonic Orchestra were cellist Pablo Casals, violinists Pablo de Sarasate and Jascha Heifetz, and pianists including Claudio Arrau, Vladimir Horowitz, Arthur Rubinstein, and Ignacy Jan Paderewski. The orchestra has also played host to the Chopin International Piano Competition. It has also recorded music for several anime series. The notable shows performed by the philharmonic include Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, Genesis of Aquarion, Hellsing Ultimate, Wolf’s Rain, Vision of Escaflowne, Princess Nine, Ah! My Goddess: The Movie, Giant Robo: The Animation, Soukyuu no Fafner, Cowboy Bebop, and Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo.
