Walker and Royce Information
Sam Walker and Gavin Royce were original collaborators in the early 2000s New York City dance music scene. Their first collaboration was a remix in 2011. Their 2014 single "Sister" was nominated for an Essential New Tune by Pete Tong, and the pair went on to have early success on tastemaker labels, including Crosstown Rebels, OFF Recordings, and Moda Black.
Walker and Royce's early music was influenced by indie dance and deep house, but they quickly moved on to other genres. The self-titled first album by Walker & Royce, released on Dirtybird in October 2017, introduced and built upon the duo's unique style. Self Help sounded like a jam-packed house party because of the band's extensive vocal roster, which included Green Velvet, Dances With White Girls, and Sophiegrophy, among many others.
Diplo's house-focused imprint Higher Ground has released its first release, the Rave Grave EP. Walker & Royce have spent years perfecting their signature style to perfect the sound they want their fans to experience in venues such as clubs, festivals, and on headphones.
