Juaquin James Malphurs (May 31, 1986) is an American rapper. He is professionally known by his stage name, Waka Flocka Flame. He was born in New York City. Waka Flocka first gained widespread attention in 2009 with the release of his breakthrough track "O Let's Do It," which reached position #62 on the US Billboard Hot 100. Waka Flocka, Gucci Mane, OJ Da Juiceman, Frenchie, and Wooh Da Kid make up the rap group known as 1017 Brick Squad. Malphurs was shot and robbed at gunpoint in an Atlanta car wash on January 19, 2010, piercing his right arm with a bullet. He made his first album appearance on October 1, 2010, with Flockaveli. On the Billboard 200, the album debuted at position number 6.
Waka Flocka posed for a non-revealing photo in 2011 for PETA to promote their campaign against animal cruelty and the use of fur. That's ink, not mink, written all over that photo. The 2011 mixtape output of Waka Flocka included the albums Salute Me or Shoot Me 3, Benjamin Flocka, and the collaborative effort Twin Towers 2 (No Fly Zone) with fellow rap artist Slim Dunkin. His album with Gucci Mane, dubbed Ferrari Boyz, came out on August 9, 2011.
