Utah Valley Symphony Information
In 1959, Utah Valley residents gathered together and founded the Utah Valley Symphony. Its goal was to serve the community with symphonic music while also showcasing the talents of the local musicians. The Utah Valley Symphony was once known as the Central Utah Community Orchestra. Thirty persons made up the inaugural orchestra, and eleven people, mostly family members, attended the first concert.
Over the next two years, the orchestra expanded to a full complement of musicians, numbering between seventy-five and eighty players. Due to the growing popularity of these concerts, it is now necessary to hold two of them. A wide range of ages is represented in the Utah Valley Symphony, from young adults to senior citizens. The median age is around 45. These talented musicians come from various musical backgrounds, including music educators, private teachers, graduates of performance majors, and good musicians who love to play.
