Trouble In Mind Information
Off-Broadway at the Greenwich Mews Theatre in 1955, Alice Childress's play Trouble in Mind debuted. On November 18, 2021, it had its world premiere at Roundabout Theatre Company's American Airlines Theatre. Stella Holt produced the first Off-Broadway show, funded by the Village Presbyterian Church and the Brotherhood Synagogue.
Hal England played Eddie, a supporting character. Vincent Sorrentino was in charge of the set design and lighting for the film. It opened on November 3, 1955, and had 91 performances. Planned for 1957, the show would have switched to Broadway as So Early Monday Morning. After Childress refused to tone down the material, the production was scrapped. On November 18, 2021, Trouble in Mind premiered at the American Airlines Theatre on Broadway.
Charles Randolph-Wright directed the production, featuring work by Arnulfo Maldonado on sets, Emilio Sosa on costumes, Kathy A. Perkins on lighting, Dan Moses Schreier on sound, Nona Hendryx on original music, and Cookie Jordan on hair and wigs. On December 10, 2021, just a month after the Broadway premiere, the National Theatre in London premiered a production at the Dorfman Theatre.
