Tret Fure is an American singer and songwriter. Tret Fure's musical career has lasted for half a century. At the tender age of 16, Fure launched her career by performing in Midwest coffeehouses and college campuses. She uprooted to Hollywood at age 19 to pursue a recording contract. Within a year, she was traveling and recording with Spencer Davis as a guitarist and singer, and she even wrote the album's lead hit, "Mousetrap." By 1973, she had her album out on MCA/UNI Records. Success with that album led to support slots with acts like Yes, Poco, and the J Geils Band.
Tret Fure has been active in the music industry for 49 years, and throughout that time, she has released 16 albums and CDs as a modern singer-songwriter. Fure is a songwriter, engineer, and producer who has worked with a wide range of performers.
Fure left the major label system in the early 1980s, just as a new subgenre of popular music emerged: women's music. She collaborated with and produced female artists, such as Meg & Cris's Carnegie Hall performance (1983). During the 1990s, she and Cris Williamson performed as a pair, recording, producing, and releasing three CDs.
She has released numerous solo albums, such as Tret Fure (1973), Terminal Hold (1984), Edges of the Heart (1986), Time Turns the Moon (1990), Back Home (2001), My Shoes (2003), Anytime Anywhere (2005) and True Compass (2007), The Horizon (2010), A Piece of the Sky (2013), Rembrandt Afternoons (2015), and Roses in November (2018).
