Traitrs Information
TRAITRS are among the most popular independent bands in modern post-punk because of their stirring melodies, driving rhythms, angular guitars, and dark cinematic electronics. TRAITRS is a Canadian duo comprised of Sean-Patrick Nolan and Shawn Tucker, who met in Toronto in the summer of 2015. To get the attention of Pleasence Records label head James Lindsay, the pair recorded recordings with producer/engineer Josh Korody (Nailbiter, F*cked Up, Japandroids, Dilly Dally), and in April 2016, the cassette Rites And Ritual was released.
In May 2018, TRAITRS released their critically acclaimed LP Butcher's Coin (Pleasence Records, Manic Depression Records, Alchera Visions), already making waves in the European and North American dark music communities. The pair set off on a string of international tours, riding the success of their debut single "Thin Flesh." They played at a wide variety of festivals and events across the globe, including Wave Gothik Treffen, Castle Party, Extramuralhas, Nocturnal Culture Night, Wavefest, Canadian Music Week, and Pop! Montreal, among many others.
Thomas Thyssen and Eric Burton of Schubert Music Publishing saw TRAITRS perform live and were so impressed that they signed the band to their new record label, Freakwave Records, in October 2020.
