Toni Watson is an Australian record producer, singer, and songwriter. She is known professionally by her stage name, Tones and I. She grew up in Mount Martha on the Mornington, located to the south of Melbourne in the Australian state of Victoria.
Tones and I inked a co-management deal with Artists Only (owned by Walkden-Brown, ex-Aerials) and Lemon Tree Music in February 2019, alongside a Bad Batch Records/Sony Music Australia deal (co-owned by Regan Lethbridge and David Morgan, both ex-Bonjah). In that month, she posted her debut track, "Johnny Run Away," to Unearthed, the website of Australian national youth radio station Triple J, which promotes unsigned artists' music. Konstantin Kersting, an Australian producer, worked on the tune.
Tones performed at the Big Pineapple Music Festival in May 2019 and opened Splendour in the Grass 2019 as the Triple J Unearthed Splendour winner in the Grass competition, where she set a record for the largest crowd for an opening show. Her third single, "Never Seen the Rain," was released in July, followed by her six-track first extended play, The Kids Are Coming, on August 30, 2019.
Her Kids Are Coming World Tour kicked out on February 1, 2020, with five Laneway Festival concerts in Australia and seven events in North America.
