Tommy Tutone is an American power pop band known for its 1981 hit “867-5309/Jenny.” The song peaked at number four on the Billboard Hot 100. The group’s current lineup consists of Tommy Heath, Jimmy James, Steve Fister, and Andy Gauthier. Tommy Heath and Jim Keller founded the band in 1978. Heath was on the lead vocals, rhythm guitar, and playing keyboards on occasions, while Keller was supporting vocals and playing lead guitar. Keller and Heath were the only constant members of Tommy Tutone.
Tommy Tutone has gone through several lineup changes. This is why the group has a long list of past members who have left the band for different reasons. Some of the former members include John Cowsill, Terry Nails, Jon Lyons, Mickey Shine, Victor Carberry, Jerry Angel, Jim Keller, Greg Sutton, Joe Lamond, Pete Constello, and Mona Gnader.
Tommy Tutone released its self-titled debut album on February 17, 1980. The album came out on Columbia/CBS Records. The band’s other notable albums include Tommy Tutone 2 (September 23, 1981), National Emotion (April 16, 1983), Nervous Love (January 22, 1996), and Tutone.rtf (July 28, 1998). The group also released some notable singles such as “Which Man Are You,” “Get Around Girl,” “My Little Red Book,” and “Time Won’t Let Me.”
