Christopher Thomas Howell (December 7, 1966) is an American actor. He was born in Los Angeles, California. The Brian Keith Show was Howell's first big break in the entertainment industry. In his later years, he became a commercial actor. Howell first appeared on screen in E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982), directed by Steven Spielberg. Francis Ford Coppola's The Outsiders featured a young Howell when he was just 15 years old. (1983).
Howell costarred with Linda Fiorentino and Nancy Allen in the cheesy 1993 drama Acting on Impulse. In 2000, Howell portrayed a doctor who, following a plane accident, finds himself on a remote island. Acting as serial murderer Kenneth Bianchi in 2004's The Hillside Strangler was one of his most notable roles. H. G. Wells's War of the Worlds was one of three 2005 versions of Wells' The War of the Worlds, and he played a key role in all three.
The 2008 direct-to-DVD sequel War of the Worlds 2: The Next Wave, which Howell produced and starred in, was a huge success for critics and audiences. In 2005, he also had a recurring part on Lori Loughlin's show Summerland, playing the father of Zac Efron's character. Howell's breakout role in Hoboken Hollow came in 2006. His films were made by the production firm The Asylum, and he eventually became a fan and donor to the studio. Howell helmed and acted in the 2008 mockbuster The Day the Earth Stopped, inspired by the classic The Day the Earth Stood Still.
