Tom Rush Information
Tom Rush (February 8, 1941) is an American blues and folk singer and songwriter, born in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Rush began performing in 1961 while studying at Harvard University. Before that, he graduated from Groton School. Rush used to perform regularly at the Club 47 coffeehouse in Cambridge.
Tom Rush is known for singing songs by William Hawkins, David Wiffen, Murray McLauchlan, James Taylor, Jackson Browne, and Joni Mitchell. One of his video performances taken from Steven Walters’ “The Remember Song” was uploaded to YouTube on March 1, 2007, and received over 7 million plays.
Currently, Rush uses a handcrafted acoustic guitar made by Don Musser. He appeared at Boston Symphony Hall on December 28, 2012, to celebrate fifty years in the music business.
Tom Rush has signed a record deal with different record labels throughout his career, including Elektra Records, Prestige Records, and Columbia Records. He has released several notable albums in his successful career, including Tom Rush at the Unicorn (1962), Got a Mind to Ramble (1964), Blues, Songs & Ballads (1965), Tom Rush (1965), Take a Little Walk with Me (1966), The Circle Game (1968), Wrong End of the Rainbow (1970), Merrimack County (1972), Ladies Love Outlaws (1974), New Year (1982), Late Night Radio (1984), and Live at Symphony Hall (2001).
