Todd Edwards Information
Todd Edward Imperatrice (December 9, 1972) is an American DJ, singer, and garage house record producer. He was born in Bloomfield, New Jersey. After his first single, "Guide My Soul," in 1993, Edwards emerged as a major influence on the emerging speed garage sound. His work is lauded for its "innovative blend of rhythmic, cut-and-paste vocal samples, rubbery basslines, and slapping percussion," demonstrating a meticulous sampling and remixing approach in which vocals are chopped into micro-sized chunks.
His song "Saved My Life" was a huge success in the UK club scene 1994. Several of his productions were compiled in 1999 for the album Todd Edwards' Nervous Tracks by Nervous. In 2000, the album Prima Edizione by i! Records featured further tracks from this period. Wildchild, St. Germain, Benjamin Diamond, Justice, Klaxons, and Dimitri from Paris are just a few of the hundreds of artists that Edwards has remixed.
Featured on Daft Punk's 2001 album Discovery, "Face to Face" was co-produced and sung by Edwards. Edwards once again collaborated with Daft Punk on the Grammy-winning track "Fragments of Time" from their 2013 album Random Access Memories. Edwards's discography was made available on digital streaming platforms via Defected Records in May 2021.
