Tiwa Savage Information
Tiwa Savage (February 5, 1980) is a British-Nigerian singer, actress, and songwriter. She was born in Isle Eko, Lagos State. At 11 years old, she relocated to London to attend secondary school. She began her music career five years later, performing backing vocals for artists such as George Michael and Mary J. Blige. After performing on The X Factor UK and graduating from Berklee College of Music, Savage signed a publishing deal with Sony/ATV Music Publishing in 2009.
Savage moved back to Nigeria in 2012. She was inspired by the expansion of the Nigerian music business and signed with Mavin Records. Solar Plexus, a compilation CD released by the label in 2012, featured her. Once Upon a Time, her debut studio album, was released on July 3, 2013. "Kele Kele Love," "Love Me (3x)," "Without My Heart," "Ife Wa Gbona," "Folarin," "Olorun Mi," and "Eminado" were the seven singles issued to promote it. At The Headies 2014, the album was nominated for Best Album of the Year, Best R&B/Pop Album, and Best Album of the Year at the 2014 Nigeria Entertainment Awards.
Savage was the first female Nigerian singer to receive a BET Award nomination in 2014. She also won the Channel O music awards show's best female category (2014). She was nominated for the same award in both 2017 and 2018. She was also nominated for and later won the MTV European Music Award in 2014.
