Tinsley Ellis Information
Tinsley Ellis (June 4, 1957) is an American blues and rock musician from Atlanta, Georgia. He grew up in South Florida, and his love for electric blues grew by listening to British Invasion bands like the Animals, Cream, the Yardbirds, and the Rolling Stones. A live performance by B.B. King largely inspired him. Ellis attended Emory University near Atlanta, and after two years, he returned as an accomplished musician and joined his first professional band, the Alley Cats. He graduated from Emory in 1979, and in 1981, he formed the Heartfixers.
Georgia Blue was his debut solo album in 1988. Later, he reissued two of his earlier CDs, Cool On It and Tore Up. The next released by Tinsley Ellis is Trouble Time (1992), Fanning the Flames (1989), Storm Warning (1994), and Fire It Up (1997). He is with record producers Eddy Offord and Tom Dowd. Ellis appeared on NBC-TV Sports during the 1996 Summer Olympics coverage by the network.
Some of his other notable studio albums are Kingpin, Hell or High Water, The Hard Way, Live! Highwayman, Moment of Truth, Speak No Evil, Midnight Blue, Winning Hand, Ice Cream In Hell, and many more. He also released a compilation album entitled A Celebration of Blues: The New Breed. Tinsley Ellis has worked with three record labels throughout his career being Alligator, Capricorn, and Telarc.
