Three Dog Night Information
Three Dog Night is an American rock band that was formed in 1967. Cory Wells on vocals, Chuck Negron on guitar, and Danny Hutton on drums make up the trio. Keyboardist Jimmy Greenspoon, bassist Joe Schermie, guitarist Michael Allsup, and drummer Floyd Sneed joined shortly after that.
Three Dog Night had 21 consecutive top 40 songs on the Billboard charts and sold 12 million copies of their 12 albums, seven certified gold. Harry Nilsson's "One" was the first of their records to earn gold. Three songs from the trio reached No. 1 on the US charts: "Mama told me not to come," "Joy to the World," and "Black and White." The New York Times magazine reported 2008 that Three Dog Night was one of hundreds of artists whose work had been lost in the tragic Universal Fire.
The band's members have rotated often throughout the years. Danny Hutton and Michael Allsup are the only two original members still performing. The band's current lineup includes Danny Hutton, Michael Allsup, Paul Kinerey, Pat Bautz, David Morgan, and Howard Laravea.
When Three Dog Night resumed touring in August 2021, Tim Hutton took over for Michael Allsup on bass. Paul Kingery resumed playing the guitar. Night's Danny Hutton has mentioned working on a new album at recent performances, and the band even debuted a new song, "Prayer of the Children," at those shows.
