Thousand Oaks Philharmonic Information
The Thousand Oaks Philharmonic, formerly the Concertos with Orchestra Thousand Oaks (CWOTO), was established in December 2000 as a legally recognized non-profit educational organization with the primary goal of giving the region's top piano students a chance to perform as soloists with a professional orchestra. Other instrumentalists and vocalists were encouraged to audition for solo performances in the following shows due to the overwhelming success of the first concert, the community's enthusiasm, and a desire to provide as many students with this extraordinary experience as possible.
Edward Francis founded Thousand Oaks Philharmonic with a vision and goal to provide chances for gifted children and other residents. A performing ensemble had to be available for this. Therefore the orchestra was created (formerly called the Conejo Concerto Orchestra or CCO). Dr. John Roscigno presently conducts the accompanying orchestra, which comprises professional musicians from the Southland. Dr. Thomas Osborn led the orchestra from the time it was created until his death.
The Ventura County region is talented, with an abnormally high proportion of young musicians at the artist level residing nearby. It is no accident that some of the best-prepared and highest-ranking students in the nation graduate from our institutions and their degree of success in other areas follows those outcomes.
