They Might Be Giants Information
They Might Be Giants or TMBG, was founded by John Flansburgh and John Linnell in 1982 as an American alternative rock band. Flansburgh and Linnell were TMBG's original members, and they typically played together as a duet with a drum machine. A backup band became a part of TMBG in the early 90s. Danny Weinkauf, Dan Miller, and Marty Beller make up their current supporting band to support the pair. Their contributions to the development and expansion of Brooklyn's thriving DIY music scene in the mid-1980s have been well acknowledged.
The band is well-known for its distinctive alternative sound, frequently featuring bizarre and amusing lyrics set to experimental genres and played by unusual instruments. Several college radio and current rock charts have included their songs during their career. They have also succeeded in the children's music industry, penning theme songs for movies and TV shows and releasing several instructional CDs.
Originally set to occur in 2020, the band's 30th anniversary Flood tour has been repeatedly postponed and rescheduled. Nominations for the 65th Annual Grammy Awards were extended to Book in November 2022 for the "Best Boxed or Special Limited-Edition Package" category. The band announced the delay of their worldwide Flood tour until October 2024 on September 2, 2023.
