The Wynners Information
The Wynners is a Hong Kong pop band. The current lineup includes Alan Tam, Kenny Bee, Bennett Pang, Danny Yip, and Anthony Chan. The Wynners were first formed in 1973 by manager Pato Leung from a previous version of the band, the Loosers, and they were a Hong Kong English pop band. Only Bee, who had previously played with the Sergeant Majors before becoming a Wynner, was not originally a band member. In a short time, the group became one of Hong Kong's most beloved adolescent idol groups.
When the group broke up in 1978, its members pursued solo careers. In the 1980s, Alan Tam and Kenny Bee were two of the biggest stars in Hong Kong. The Wynners have performed together for sold-out crowds on a five-year cycle, although never officially disbanding. On April 1, 2011, they reconnected at Jackie Chan's Artistes 311 Love Beyond Borders benefit in Hong Kong for the Japanese tsunami victims.
On November 8, 2014, they most recently performed at the Oracle Arena for a fundraiser benefiting Family Bridges. In 2023, the Wynners announced their 50th anniversary concert tour around Hong Kong and the globe, and they halted all business operations. In their formative years, the band performed only in English, covering international hits like The Beatles' "Hey Jude," among many others.
