The Weepies Information
The Weepies are an indie pop-folk duo founded in 2001 that originated from Cambridge, Massachusetts. The pair comprises of married singer-songwriters Deb Talan and Steve Tannen. Their music is defined as indie, Folk rock, acoustic rock, and "subtly intoxicating folk-pop." The couple used to praise each other's music before creating the duo. They met at one of Tannen's shows at Club Passim and soon discovered a deep musical bond.
Happiness was the first album by the Weepies, released on November 29, 2003. The album sold over 10,000 copies. Their second album was entitled Say I Am You, released in 2005. This album was recorded in their home in Pasadena, California. Hideaway (2008), Be My Thrill (2010), and Sirens (2015) are the three follow-up albums by the duo. The only EP released by the couple is Live Session EP (2006).
The Weepies have gone on many successful tours, including Say I Am You Tour, Be My Thrill Tour, An Acoustic Evening With The Weepies Tour, Sirens, The Weepies: Completely Acoustic and Alone, The Weepies: Hideaway 10 Year Anniversary Tour, and The Weepies: Holiday Acoustic Tour.
Many of the duo's songs have been used in films, ads, and TV shows. Some of the hit films that used their songs include Morning Glory, Sex and the City, Adam, and Prom. The Weepies were most prominently featured in an episode of Dirty Sexy Money.
