The Residents Information
The Residents are a musical group and art collective that originated from Shreveport, Louisiana, in 1969. It is best known for avant-garde music and multimedia works. Meet the Residents (1974) was the group's first official release followed by over sixty albums, three CD-ROM projects, numerous music videos and short films, and ten DVDs. The plays noise rock, avant-pop, multimedia art, experimental, and Avant-grade music.
The Residents have undertaken seven major world tours and scored multiple films. They are said to be a pioneer in exploring the potential of CD-ROM and similar technologies. Hardy Fox identified himself as both the anonymous primary composer and producer for the Residents in October 2017.
There is a long list of multimedia projects released by the Residents among which, some of the notable ones are The Eyes Scream: A History of the Residents (VHS), Twenty Twisted Questions (Laserdisc), Eskimo (DVD) – 2002, Demons Dance Alone (DVD) – 2003, Cube E Box (CD/DVD) – 2006, Timmy (Internet video series) – 2006, Icky Flix Live (DVD) – 2009, Is Anybody Out There? (DVD) – 2009, and Bimbo's Talking Light DVD (DVD) – 2011.
The group has released many compilations, Live albums, EPs, and charted singles and won several awards for their multimedia projects so far. Some of the hit studio albums released by the Residents are The Third Reich 'n Roll – 1976, Duck Stab/Buster & Glen – 1978, Mark of the Mole – 1981, The Tunes of Two Cities – 1982, and The King & Eye – 1989.
