The McCartney Years is a recorded set featuring live performances, music videos, and other very rare footage from Paul McCartney's solo career along with Wings. The McCartney Years spanned the years 1970 to 2005 and was released by Warner Music on November 12, 2007, in the UK, and the following day, it was released by Rhino Entertainment in the United States. The set was recorded from 1970-2005, and its genre is defined as rock and pop.
The first two discs of the McCartney Years comprise promotional films that are from "Maybe I'm Amazed" (1970) to "Fine Line" (2005). Some of the additional features include a documentary about his recent album entitled Chaos and Creation in the Backyard (Creating Chaos at Abbey Road). It was a film about the Band on the Run album as well as a feature-length audio commentary from McCartney. The third disc of the set includes seven songs from the 1976 Wings concert Rockshow, eleven performances from his 2004 set at Glastonbury Festival, and four songs from McCartney's 1991 appearance on MTV Unplugged.
A few of the other features include McCartney's appearance at Live Aid in 1985, interviews with Melvyn Bragg and Michael Parkinson, and the Super Bowl XXXIX Halftime Show. Every video on the McCartney Years has been digitally remastered as well, which creates an odd effect on all the videos that seem to be cinematic now.
