The Celtic Tenors Information
The Celtic Tenors began their official life in October 1995 as the Three Irish Tenors. They started their career on the famous RTÉ’s Theatre Nights. At that time, the ensemble consisted of Niall Morris, James Nelson, and Paul Hennessey. The band is well-known for releasing many notable records via Decca Records. They also worked with Telarc, Tayberry Records, EMI Classics, Dara labels, and self-releasing.
“The Celtic Tenors” was the very first album by the band in 2000. The album was able to garner double-platinum status in Ireland. It hit number two in the UK and number one in Germany plus Ireland. The album also earned the “Echo Award” in Germany for “classical without borders.” Some of the notable releases by the Tenors which followed this album are “So Strong (2001)” and “The Irish Album” EMI Classics(2002).
One of the singles by the Celtic Tenors named “Ireland’s call” has now become the Irish Rugby anthem. Some of the other notable releases by the band “Hard Times” (2009 Tayberry Records), “Celebrate with the Celtic Tenors” (2002), “Feels Like Home” (2011), “No Boundaries” (2010), “The Christmas Album” (2013), Timeless (2016), self-released An Irish Songbook (2019)
and a few more.
The Tenors are known for extensively touring in the US, Canada, Australia, China, Germany, and the Netherlands. The group performs a perfect blend of operatic, Celtic, and harmonized popular songs. The band has performed in several sporting events such as football, Gaelic football, hurling, rugby, ice hockey, tennis, Formula 1 motorcar racing, and many more.
