The Bros. Landreth Information
Canada's own The Bros. Landreth play a blend of indie-folk and alternative country. At the 2015 Juno Awards, their debut album, Let It Lie, took home the trophy for Roots & Traditional Album of the Year - Group.
Joey and David Landreth, sons of Winnipeg musician Wally Landreth, started the band in 2013. Joey plays guitar, and David plays bass, while both brothers provide vocals. Alex Campbell on piano and Ryan Voth on drums rounded out the original lineup. Ariel Posen has played second guitar for the band during tours. In contrast, Cody Iwasiuk, Curtis Nowosad, and Michael Carbone have played drums, and Liam Duncan and Darryl "Duke" Havers have played keyboards.
In 2013, an unaffiliated release of Let It Lie appeared. The album was reissued in the USA and Europe in January 2015 thanks to a distribution deal the band made with Slate Creek Records in 2014. The band earned the New/Emerging Artist of the Year award at the 10th Canadian Folk Music Awards in 2014, while Let It Lie was nominated for Contemporary Album of the Year. At the Western Canadian Music Awards, the band competed for two prizes: Songwriter of the Year and Roots Group Recording of the Year.
The band has performed in both Canada and the US. When legendary American rock singer/songwriter John Oates agreed to open for them on their 2015 tour stop in Nashville, it drew even more media attention to the band. The band dropped album No. 87 in 2019.
