The Bay Ledges Information
After relocating to Los Angeles in 2015 from a small hamlet along the coast of Maine, Zach Hurd founded Bay Ledges in his bedroom. It started as an unintentional attempt to create amusing, original noises. Soulful, glitchy tunes with nostalgia were made by chopping up guitar riffs, having fun with the beats, and manipulating the voices. Hurd's 2016 track "Safe," which peaked at number three on Spotify's Global Viral Chart, ignited the project.
In the years that followed, Yoke Lore, Magic City Hippies, and The Palms, among others, performed onstage with Bay Ledges as they toured the US and Canada. Hurd used his time off the road in 2020 to return to the more intimate aspects of music production, writing, producing and mixing his 2020 EP, New Daze. The outcome was a further investigation and development of the Bay Ledges sound.
Hurd packed his bags and moved back to Maine after the publication of New Daze. He explains that he and his companion Clara were eager to leave Los Angeles and that going back to Maine, where I'm from, was exhilarating. There is a lot of nostalgia for his youth here, and returning is like seeing things from a fresh angle.
