The Album Leaf Information
The Album Leaf is a musical project with the current lineup of the group consisting of Brad Lee (misc, trumpet, keyboards, guitar, and bass), David LeBleu (misc, keyboards, synths, and drums), Matthew Resovich (vocals, glockenspiel, synths, and violin), and Jimmy LaValle (vocals, synths, guitar, and Rhodes piano). In 1998, the guitarist for the San Diego, California, post-rock instrumental band Tristeza, Jimmy LaValle, formally launched The Album Leaf as a solo project. LaValle has played in several other bands in the San Diego region. These groups include The Crimson Curse, The Locust, Swing Kids, and GoGoGo Airheart.
At a loose end in the fall of 1998, LaValle joined the drum section of the San Diego band GoGoGo Airheart. Mike Vermillion, lead singer, and guitarist (and the inspiration for the album's "Vermillion" track) recorded LaValle improvising on a Rhodes piano and a vintage Roland drum machine. His debut studio album, An Orchestrated Rise to Fall, featured ten tracks and was released in 2002. Synthesizers and vocals were provided by Benjamin White of GoGoGo Airheart and Vermillion. The Album Leaf celebrated the 20th anniversary of their sophomore album, One Day I'll Be on Time, with the release of One Day XX on September 17, 2021.
