Tessa Lark Information
Tessa Lark is an American violinist who was born and raised in Richmond, Kentucky. Lark started taking violin classes through one of the renowned Suzuki Methods when she was six. She began her musical career by recording with her father in a Gospel Bluegrass group named Narrow Road. At 16, Lark made her concert debut and played Mozart’s Violin Concerto Number 3 in G major with the Cincinnati Symphony. During the same time, she was accepted into The New England Conservatory (NEC) and completed her graduation and master’s degree.
Lark was also accepted into Starling Preparatory Strings Project of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. She studied there privately, along with Kurt Sassmannshaus. She later attended Juilliard School, where she studied in their Artist Diploma program and received her completion certificate in 2017.
Lark has been featured as a soloist in many notable orchestras of the United States such as Buffalo and Binghamton Philharmonics, Albany, the Cincinnati, Longwood, New Haven, Hawaii, Santa Fe, Santa Cruz, the Chinese Opera and Ballet Symphony, the Louisville Orchestra, CityMusic Cleveland, and the New Juilliard Ensemble Chamber Orchestras. In 2014, she was featured on the album entitled “MOC4” by Mark O’Connor.
Lark has received several awards thus far and earned many nominations. She received a Borletti-Buitoni Trust Fellowship in 2018 and was awarded a career grant from the Leonore Annenberg Fellowship Fund for the Performing and Visual Arts in 2014. Lark also received the Avery Fisher Career Grant in 2016.
