Tennyson Information
Tennyson is a Canadian musical duo. The current lineup consists of Tess Pretty and Luke Pretty. Luke Pretty and Tess Pretty created Tennyson in 2012. Between the ages of seven and nine, the two started performing as buskers in Edmonton, Alberta, where they sang songs by artists like The Beatles, Coldplay, and Weezer. Luke started recording electronic music with his sister on drums in 2014 and sharing it on SoundCloud.
In 2017, Tennyson appeared in a wide variety of music festivals. They shared the stage with acts such as Chance the Rapper, blink-182, Lorde, Gorillaz, Chris Lake, The Knocks, Flying Lotus, Wiz Khalifa, Moby, Post Malone, Dawes, and Vince Staples. On Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, an EP featuring Tennyson, BJ the Chicago Kid, and Mr. Carmack was released in 2017. The EP was released alongside Red Bull's Red Bull Sound Select event. In addition to the magazine, Red Bull's website highlighted Tennyson.
On February 18, 2022, Luke Pretty dropped his first studio album, Rot. The musician's experience with mold-related hearing loss served as inspiration for Rot. Billboard magazine named Tennyson one of the Top 10 Dance Acts to Watch in 2022. In their song "Lay-by," for example, they sample the sound of a car door being left ajar in addition to other sounds, including those of purring cats, ring tones, texting noises, Mac OS sound effects, and more.
