Suzanne Santo is a singer, songwriter, and instrumentalist who rose to prominence as a member of the well-known Americana band HONEYHONEY before embarking on a solo career. Suzanne Santo was born Suzanne Alisa Santosuosso on January 20, 1985, in Cleveland, Ohio. Before meeting Ben Jaffe at a costume party in Venice, California, in 2006, Santo had explored careers as a model and actor (her credentials include appearances on Law & Order, Without a Trace, and Medium). They became friends and began performing together, with Jaffe on piano, guitar, vocals, and Santo on vocals, banjo, and violin. The band, formerly known as Zanzibar Lewis, had been performing for roughly a year when they were signed to Ironworks, a company created in 1992.
The trio renamed themselves HONEYHONEY and released their debut album, First Rodeo, in 2008, but it would be three years before they published their follow-up. Billy Jack was released in 2011 on the respected roots rock label Lost Highway; nevertheless, it was the label's final release, as Universal's parent company liquidated the imprint not long after Billy Jack was released. Jaffe and Santo switched managers, went on a few low-budget tours, and self-financed their third studio album, 3, released by Rounder Records in 2015. Santo debuted a solo project in 2017, while HONEYHONEY stayed busy writing music for the television comedy series The Guest House. Butch Walker, who used Santo as a guest musician on his 2016 album Stay Gold, produced the track.
