Striking Matches Information
Sarah Zimmermann and Justin Davis are the two halves of the American guitar/songwriting combo Striking Matches. Zimmermann and Davis first crossed paths at a guitar seminar class at Nashville's Belmont University in 2007. Since then, they've been working together to hone their songwriting and performing chops. They dropped out of school shortly after that to concentrate on their music career. The Bluebird Café in Nashville was the site of the duo's first performance together. In October 2012, they independently released an EP under their name.
Frankie Pine, the music supervisor for the TV show Nashville, heard Justin Davis and Sarah Zimmermann play in the office of Universal Publishing while she was in Nashville and chose to utilize their songs in the show. With the debut of "When the Right One Comes Along," they were featured on the show for the first time; since then, nine of their songs have been played across the show's four seasons. In 2019 and 2020, the band Striking Matches will release three extended plays named Morning, Noon, and Night.
Following their departure from Capitol Records in March 2019, Striking Matches released their first new music in the form of an EP titled Morning in May 2019. Before releasing their EP, the band shared a music video for the single "Don't Hold Back" in April 2019. Casey Pierce helmed with the video. In September 2019, the duo will drop "Say What You Wanna," the second song from their upcoming EP Noon. The 15th of November, 2019, is the official release date for Noon.
