Stewart Goodyear Information
Stewart Goodyear (February 1978) is a Canadian composer and concert pianist from Toronto, Ontario. He grew up with his late father's LPs, which included Led Zeppelin, the Beatles, Santana, along with Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, and Czechovski symphonies. According to Goodyear, hearing Beethoven is what compelled him to be a future classical artist. He was well-known to the piano at an early age of 3. By the age of 4, he was playing by ear on a toy piano. Observing his talent, Goodyear's family bought a full-sized piano, and he began taking lessons to learn as a student at an all-boy choir school in Toronto. He graduated from the Glenn Gould School at the Royal Conservatory of Music at the age of 15. Later, Goodyear attended the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia and Juilliard School in New York and earned a master's in piano performance.
Goodyear initiated his professional career by performing beside Pittsburgh Symphony, Philadelphia Orchestra, San Francisco Symphony, Chicago Symphony, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Cleveland Orchestra, Frankfurt Radio Symphony, MDR Leipzig Radio Symphony Orchestra, Montreal Symphony, Detroit Symphony, Seattle Symphony, Mostly Mozart Festival Orchestra, and many more. He is known as one of the contemporary classical musician and one who typically meditates for half an hour before performing.
As a particular influence, Goodyear cites Leonard Bernstein. A few of Gooodyear's successful compositions are August, Baby Shark Fugue, Callaloo Suite (for piano and orchestra), Caribbiana, Cello Concerto, Count Up (fanfare), Dogged by Hell Hounds, Go Down Death, Piano Quartet, Sonata for Piano, and Variations on Eleanor Rigby.
