Squeezebox Bandits Information
Abel Casillas and Vincent Saldivar, both from Fort Worth, Texas, founded the Squeezebox Bandits. As young adults, they met at a charity concert where they were both performing. Both grew up in Fort Worth's mostly Hispanic North Side, where they shared a love of music from both sides of the border, from Tejano icon Ramon Ayala to country great Dwight Yokum.
The band has found an audience in the Fort Worth music scene because of their unique blend of Tejano music and Country/Western cover songs and their eagerness to play as much as possible to get their sound out there. Saldivar claims that the music's success is because the Tejano style is a good fit for its listeners.
Blues legend Victor Saldivar is the father of Saldivar. Casillas first started up the accordion because he liked conjunto music, and ever since, he has been unable to put it down due to the instrument's adaptability.
As a band, they've put out two albums thus far. Clear as Day was their first full-length album. It came out in 2018. Sounds of Texas, the follow-up CD, was released this year (2019). The 2019 Fort Worth Weekly Music Awards presented them with the Best Texas Music Award.
