Slushii Information
Julian Michael Scanlan (May 1, 1997) is an American record producer, DJ, singer, songwriter, and musician, professionally known by his stage name, Slushii. He is currently based in Los Angeles. Scanlan was born and raised in Mount Laurel, New Jersey, and attended Lenape High School in Burlington County. He worked as a customer service representative at Best Buy in New Jersey until he lost his cloud-based music, prompting him to embark on a new career path. He began his musical career by spending three years with the psychedelic power-pop band Deuteronomy, with whom he released one album, Propaganda.
Slushii signed a record deal with Red Light Management in February 2016. Emptiness, his debut song for Monstercat in Canada, was released on April 20, 2016. On May 20, 2016, he self-released his seven-track debut extended play, "Brain Freeze." It received a 9.2 out of 10 rating from YourEDM. His musical style combines helium voices, happy trance synths, trap beats, and dubstep drops in modern EDM production.
Slushii released the dubstep single "Catch Me" in March 2017. The music was described as "upbeat, trap step-inspired, and bass-heavy." He later teamed with future bass DJ Marshmello on their tune "Twinbow," albeit not their first time working together. Slushii released his debut studio album, Out of Light, on August 4, 2017, which had 13 songs, including "Dear Me."
