Simone Sala Information
Simone Sala (March 21, 1982) is an Italian pianist and the brother of the famous guitarist Flavio Sala. Sala was born in Bojano (CB) and studied piano at nine with Maestro P. Niro. After a few months, Sala entered the “Lorenzo Perosi” Conservatory of Campobasso in the class of Maestro Michele Baptist. He completed his graduation from the same institute. Along with his piano studies, Sala also attended the Composition course with the experimental address which Maestro Luca Salvadori held.
Simone Sala completed his studies in the Conservatory and continued his academic career in Naples under Annamaria Pennella, a pianist. Sala was soon selected as the recipient of a scholarship and moved to the United States to complete his studies at the Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. From there, he gained the Artist Certificate degree in Piano Performing in 2009.
Simone Sala founded the World Music Project in 2008. It was a traveling festival of which he has been the Artistic Director since its inception. Sala has collaborated with some of the most notable artists on the international scene, including Vinicio Capossela, Irio de Paula, Tullio de Piscopo, Richard Galliano, Peter Erskine, Stefano Bollani, Silvia Mezzanotte, Al Di Meola, Billy Cobham, and Michel Camilo. Sala has also released two albums that are Duende (2011) and Notes (2014).
