Sean McCann Information
Sean McCann (May 22. 1967) is a Canadian musician and singer. He was born in Carbonear, Newfoundland and Labrador. McCann's discography includes five solo albums: Lullabies for Bloodshot Eyes, Son of a Sailor, Help Yourself, You Know I Love You, and There's a Place.
In June of 2016, McCann collaborated with the Canadian Red Cross to share the folk song "Proud (To Be a Canadian)" for free online to raise money for the victims of the Fort McMurray fires. McCann explained to The Canadian Press that he was inspired to compose the song's lyrics by his hopelessness in the face of the tragedy. When he was done, he called guitarist friend Jeremy Fisher for studio assistance.
McCann and his friends Joel Plaskett, Sarah Harmer, and Jeremy Fisher held a benefit songwriter's circle at Ottawa's Algonquin Commons Theatre in November 2017 to collect money to buy guitars for veterans with PTSD and other mental health issues.
