Sasha and John Digweed Information
The British DJ combo Sasha & John Digweed consists of Sasha and John Digweed. Digweed, a veteran DJ of 10 years, met Sasha, who had spent the previous few years spinning at acid house music clubs and raves while both were performing at Renaissance. They worked on their DJ chops, especially song selection and mixing techniques. They released Renaissance: The Mix Collection, a triple CD compilation, on Renaissance Records 1994.
It featured original productions and remixes from themselves in addition to several big dance tunes of the time by artists like Leftfield, Fluke, and 2 Bad Mice. Two years later, with the release of their double CD Northern Exposure on the mega-label Ministry of Sound, the duo became "true superstars" (AllMusic). The following year, Ultra Records distributed a single CD, including this album in the United States.
In 1997, the Ministry of Sound released the Northern Exposure 2 double CD mix album. Both Sasha and Digweed traveled extensively in the late '90s when progressive house and trance emerged. In 1998, John Digweed (with GU 006: Sydney) and Sasha (with GU 009: San Francisco) produced mix albums on Boxed as part of the Global Underground series.
