Ryan James Hurd (November 2, 1986) is an American country music songwriter and singer. He was born in Chicago, Illinois, and grew up in Kalamazoo, Michigan, before moving to Nashville, Tennessee. Hurd wrote a song entitled “Lonely Tonight” in 2015. It became the number 1 Country Airplay single for Ashley Monroe and Blake Shelton. In 2017, he signed a record deal with Sony Music Nashville to release his forthcoming debut album. He released his self-titled EP, and a single from “We Do Us” has gained more than 2 million streams on Spotify.
Hurd has also been featured on the “Artist You Need to Know” list by Rolling Stone and has been named one of the “Listen Up” Artists of 2016 by CMT. He has toured with many big names such as Morris, Florida Georgia Line, Thomas Rhett, and Chase Rice. Hurd released the debut single “Love in a Bar.” He went on a tour supporting his Platonic EP with Niko Moon and Adam Doleac. Hurd released the most successful single of his career in 2021, entitled “Chasing After You.” It was the first duet he recorded with his wife, Maren Morris.
The song reached the top ten on the country charts and 23 on the Hot 100. The lead single from his album that he released on October 15, 2021, is entitled, Pelago.
