Ry Cuming - RY X Information
Ry X is an Australian musician, singer, and songwriter. He was the first musician to be signed to the Dumont Dumont label, situated in Stockholm. RY X was born on Woodford Island in New South Wales’ Northern Rivers region, where he learned to surf. RY X identified Pearl Jam and Jeff Buckley as his biggest influences in an interview with Entertainment Tonight. After hearing Buckley’s album Grace, he began writing music at the age of 16.
“Let Your Spirit Fly,” a song by Ry X, was featured on the soundtrack of the 2006 film Hoot. He relocated to Los Angeles, California, and signed with Jive Records, who released his self-titled first album on July 20, 2010. He went on tour with Maroon 5, opening for them at a few venues. He was named “Best Pop Song” and “Best New Artist” at the Dolphin Awards in Australia.
Ry X and Frank Wiedemann partnered on the Berlin record label Innervisions in 2012 to release “Howling,” which included a remix by myself. Everything, Everything used the song in the film. In the movie Taken 3, my remix was featured. RY X’s second album, ‘Dawn,’ was released on May 6, 2016, via Infectious Records and Loma Vista Records. The album entered the UK Album Charts at #34 and charted in Germany, France, Canada, and Australia.
Ry X has released many hit singles throughout his career, including “Berlin,” “Love Like This,” “Bad Love,” “Untold,” and “Thunder.”
