Regina Spektor Information
Regina Ilyinichna Spektor (February 18, 1980) is a Russian-American singer, composer, and pianist. Following the self-release of her first three recordings and becoming well-known in New York City's indie music scenes—especially the anti-folk culture focused on New York City's East Village—Spektor signed with Sire Recordings in 2004 to increase mainstream exposure.
Following the re-release of her third album, Soviet Kitsch, by a big label, Sire published Spektor's fourth album, Begin to Hope, which was awarded a Gold certification by the (RIAA). Her subsequent albums, Far and What We Saw from the Cheap Seats, peaked at No.3 on the Billboard 200 chart when they were first released.
Spektor revealed her eighth studio album, Home, Before and After, on February 22, 2022, with a June 24 release date and the release of the first track, "Becoming All Alone." Recorded in upstate New York, Spektor and John Congleton produced the record. On August 5, 2022, she held an NPR Tiny Desk Concert, featuring songs from earlier releases, including "Fidelity" and "Samson," in addition to "Becoming All Alone" from her new album.
