Regina Belle Information
Regina Elaine Belle (July 17, 1963) is an American singer and songwriter. She was born in Englewood, New Jersey. Some of Belle's musical influences include Phyllis Hyman, Billie Holiday, Shirley Caesar, Patti LaBelle, and Nancy Wilson.
Vaughn Harper, a New York radio DJ, introduced Belle to the Manhattans, who hired her to perform as their opening act. On their album Back to Basics, she sang a duet with the group titled "Where Did We Go Wrong," which helped Columbia Records take notice of her. On the B-side of "Where Did We Go Wrong," she also cut a second duet called "Maybe Tomorrow." She finally received a record deal with them.
All by Myself, Belle's debut album was released in 1987. It included her first singles, "Show Me the Way" and "So Many Tears." The love theme from the 1987 comedy picture Leonard Part 6 (performed by Belle and Peabo Bryson), "Without You," was their first commercially successful duet.
