Randy Owen Information
Randy Yeuell Owen (December 13, 1949) is an American country music artist. He was born and grew up on a farm near Fort Payne, Alabama. Owen dropped out of high school in the ninth grade but returned and completed his graduation in 1969 from Fort Payne High. He began playing music in the late 1960s with his cousin, Teddy Gentry. They recruited their cousin, Jeff Cook, to form a band that was named, Wildcountry. The group made its first public performance during a high school talent show.
Owen is best known for his role as the lead singer of Alabama, a band that he formed along with his cousins. Alabama became the most successful band in country music. The band released around 20 gold and platinum records as well as dozens of number-one singles. They also sold more than 75 million records in their official career. Owen worked hard for his solo career at the same time. In 2008, he released his solo debut album entitled “One on One.” There were two singles from the album that charted.
In 2019, Randy Owen was inducted into the Musicians Hall of Fame and Museum. A few of his other notable singles include “Braid My Hair” (2008), “Like I Never Broke Her Heart” (2008), and “Holding Everything” (2009).
