Pure Bathing Culture is an indie pop band based in Portland, Oregon. The band’s current lineup includes Sarah Versprille (keyboards and vocals), Daniel Hindman (guitar, bass, and keyboards), and the touring personnel includes Zach Tillman (bass and keyboards), Justin Chase (keyboards), and Christopher Icasiano (drums). The group started when Versprille and Hindman met at a college in New Jersey.
Both of them lived in Brooklyn, New York, and in 2011, they moved to Portland, Oregon, to play in the group called “Vetiver.” They began to play live shows in 2012 and released an EP produced by Richard Swift in 2012 on the record label, Father/Daughter Records. The group also toured in the United States, opening for Father John Misty and Caveman.
In 2013, Pure Bathing Culture released its debut album on Partisan Records. The album caught attention primarily due to the single “Pendulum.” They recorded their second album in February 2015 in Dallas, Texas, with music producer John Congleton. Their second album, entitled “Pray for Rain,” came out on October 23, 2015. After this release, the group embarked on another headlining tour in the United Kingdom and performed sold-out shows in Manchester.
Pure Bathing Culture has opened for The Shins and Death Cab For Cutie. They began working on their third album with Tucker Martine. The band’s other albums include Moon Tides (2013), Hats (2018), Night Pass (2019), and Carrido (2020).
