Punch Brothers Information
Punch Brothers is an American band with a current lineup of the group consists of Chris Thile (mandolin, vocals, mandola, bouzouki), Gabe Witcher (fiddle, vocals, drums), Noam Pikelny (banjo, vocals, and National steel-bodied guitar), Chris Eldridge (guitar and vocals), and Paul Kowert (double bass and vocals). The band’s musical style is described as bluegrass instrumentation and spontaneity in the structures of modern classical. It is also known as American country-classical chamber music, formed by Thile in 2006. They recorded the album entitled, How to Grow Woman from the Ground. The band was called a 21st-century version of the Bluegrass Boys by American Songwriter.
Punch Brother embarked on their first national tour on February 13, 2008. On February 26, 2008, the group released its debut album, Punch, under Nonesuch Records. The band released its second album, Antifogmatic, on June 15, 2010. The album featured both newgrass and traditional bluegrass styles. In 2011, the band focused majorly on its upcoming music directory named How to Grow a Band. Mark Meatto directed the documentary. It took almost two years to film the complete documentary. It was premiered on April 15, 2011, and screened as part of the 38th Annual Telluride Bluegrass Festival in June 2011.
On February 14, 2012, Punch Brothers came up with their third album entitled, Who’s Feeling Young Now. Other albums released by the band so far include Ahoy! EP (November 13, 2012), The Phosphorescent Blues (January 27, 2015), The Wireless EP (November 20, 2015), and All Ashore (July 20, 2018).
