Perturbator Information
James Kent (1993) is a French musician. He is professionally known by his stage name, Perturbator. Kent has played guitar in other black metal bands in the past. He has been making electronic music referencing cyberpunk media like Akira, Ghost in the Shell, and The Running Man since 2012. Emulators of classic synths like the OB-X and CS-80 are among the software synths he employs in his productions. He has released five studio albums, the most recent being 2018's Lustful Sacraments and, on the Blood Music label. He has also played several live events since his debut extended play, Night Driving Avenger.
Hotline Miami and its sequel, Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number, featured several of his tracks. The EP Sexualizer by Perturbator included the song "Miami Disco" as an official release and a means to express gratitude to the creators of Hotline Miami. The popularity of the Hotline Miami video games led to increased visibility among the general public.
On May 6, 2016, Blood Music published The Uncanny Valley, Perturbator's fourth studio album. It was available on Digibook CD, vinyl, and cassette tape. MetalSucks and Bloody Disgusting were among the many websites that praised the album. A supplementary EP was included with some pressings of the album.
